Political Spying, as Robert Mueller’s delusional Russia-Trump collusion probe grinds on and real multi-level criminal activity has been revealed: the collusion between the Justice Department, the FBI, the Clinton campaign and, possibly, the Obama administration, to plant a spy in the Trump campaign. Democrats are no longer liberal by definition, they are progressives, they are acting in the Woodrow Wilson liberal format were everyone is your enemy who isn’t on your side. They hate Trump so much that are willing to besmirch the Constitution to achieve a goal to defeat Trump at the ballot box or to have him removed from office. If so, as some say, and I certainly believe — this is bigger than Watergate, times one hundred.
As is now known, the spy’s name is Stefan Halper, a professor at Cambridge University who has high-level ties to both U.S. and British intelligence, as the Daily Caller News Foundation investigative reporting discovered and revealed and there will be more.
The revelation made President Trump livid, and rightly so, as his tweet on Sunday afternoon plainly stated; “I hereby demand, and will do so officially tomorrow, that the Department of Justice look into whether or not the (FBI and Department of Justice) infiltrated or surveilled the Trump Campaign for Political purposes — and if any such demands or requests were made by people within the Obama Administration!”
As pointed out in my previous article, both the New York Times and Washington Post knew the professor’s name, but evasively decided not to reveal it, citing intelligence officials’ warnings that to do so would might endanger him or other intelligence contacts. Many of those who follow this type of political activity using search tools such as Google and other sources, as well as the copious information about the “informant” in the NYT and WaPo pieces, were easily able to identify Halper as the informant.
Further, the most laughable aspect of all of this is the debate over semantics of how to refer to Halper is amusing, but serious. Trump-hating mainstream media, echoing the FBI’s and Department of Justice’s preferred term, referring to Halper as an “informant,” not a “spy.” The question as to why, is because, if it turns out that putting a spy into Trump’s presidential campaign was actually political rather than for national security, it would be plainly illegal. A lot of people could have careers ruined and or go to prison.
Further, the FBI, it was reported last week, even had an operational name for the larger program of spying on the Trump campaign called “Operation Crossfire Hurricane” — if you recall from the Rolling Stones hit “Jumpin Jack Flash.” As part of this — we now know they had at least one spy inside the Trump campaign.
As the NYTs reported, the project began in earnest in August 2016 as claimed officials, after the former CIA Director, John Brennan, shared intelligence with former FBI Director Comey showing that the Russian government was behind an attack on the 2016 presidential election. Many of us know it started much earlier. Intelligence agencies began collaborating to investigate that operation. The Crossfire Hurricane team was part of that group, but largely operated independently, we have since learned.
Additionally, despite repeated denials, both the CIA and FBI were using Russian meddling in the election as an excuse to involve the spy Halper embedded in the Trump campaign. As previously mentioned, Halper a long-time CIA asset who worked for the Nixon administration, as well as other administrations, is the son-in-law of former CIA Deputy Director Ray Cline, and he still directs the organization the Cambridge Security Initiative, a non-profit intelligence research consultant firm that lists both UK and U.S. government agencies among its international clients. Halper is also a close friend and colleague of Sir Richard Dearlove, the former director of Britain’s MI6, its spy agency equivalent to the CIA.
Once again, I previously noted that Halper was the recipient of more than $400,000 in payments from the Obama administration. Those funds I have learned came from the Defense Department, in the Pentagon’s Office of Net Assessment (ONA), which is an internal Defense intelligence think tank. Those funds were transferred to Halper from July 2016 to September 2017, after of course Halper had been spying on the Trump campaign officials George Papadopoulos, Carter Page, and Sam Clovis, Trump senior campaign adviser.
All of this raises serious concerns. The recent unmasking and revelation of Halper as the mole in Trump’s campaign raises many questions. This is immensely criminal on so many fronts. First, were those legitimate payments from ONA for past research, or was it used to pay for espionage services rendered to the Deep State? The former would be questionable because what did the Pentagon and ONA have to do with spying on Trump. If the latter, it would be a gross violation of U.S. law on many levels.
Further, more troubling are Halper’s extensive intelligence links. As a dual U.S.-British citizen and his close ties to both British and U.S. intelligence, did he ask British assets to spy on Trump? Who directed him to do so – Comey, Clapper, Brennan, Lynch? Did the Secretary of Defense know his funds from his ONA were being used to pay for illegal spying on a U.S. presidential campaign? If he did he has a lot of questions to answer. And of course, what did Obama know and when did he know about it? Also another concern that comes to mind, was the British government a party to this? Did it know about Crossfire Hurricane and or that Halper was spying on the Trump campaign? If so, would it not be an act of espionage on an ally?
Yet another critical concern I have is, what role did Halper play, if any, in engaging the former British MI6 Russian spy Christopher Steele? Did Halper haven anything to do with getting any Russian officials to make the phony claims about Mr. Trump for Steele’s “dossier” in order to disparage and taint the Trump campaign? Far more seriously, was this coordinated from the Obama administration through the State Department, Justice Department and FBI, to aid the Clinton campaign and salvage President Obama’s legacy?
It should also be pointed that that there are in fact at least 6 and potentially 7 known and suspected Intelligence informants accused of spying on Trump campaign … list of known and suspected FBI/CIA informants/assets who have spied on is now being reported that Devin Nunes has learned the identity of those which includes Halper, Steele, Glenn Simpson and Nellie Ohr. Certainly this will be another breaking story in the coming days.
Be aware that the House Select Committee on Intelligence is now investigating former Secretary of State John F. Kerry’s possible role into the unverified dossier paid for by the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton Campaign…The dossier, assembled by a former British spy, laid the foundation for the FBI’s investigation into alleged collusion between President Trump and Russia and was the essential piece of evidence used by the FBI to get a warrant to spy on a former volunteer for the Trump campaign.”
Are former CIA Director John Brennan’s and former FBI chief James Comey’s recent bizarre veiled threats toward Republicans in Congress and President Trump himself desperate acts to escape the trap of their own criminality? They are both running scared!
It’s more than obvious, in fact it’s already pretty clear that Comey lied to Congress. This was revealed by his FBI deputy, Andrew McCabe, who testified that Comey cleared him to leak to the media, after Comey told Congress in sworn testimony that he did no such thing. Similarly, CIA’s Brennan appears, at least, to have been caught in an outright lie to Congress by denying that the Steele dossier had anything to do with the FBI’s and CIA’s conclusion that Russia’s meddling was intended to protect and help Trump in 2016.
Brennan also lied when he said he didn’t know who was behind the Steele dossier, even though both the Justice Department and FBI knew a year earlier that Hillary Clinton, Trump’s foe, had paid for the Steele hit job. The idea Brennan, head of the world’s most powerful spy agency, didn’t know who was paying for the dossier simply isn’t credible on any level. With that, Brennan may now face perjury charges, and it is likely so may Comey.
Nevertheless, the greater question that now arises, as it did in Watergate: What did President Obama know, and when did he know it? Did he deploy U.S. intelligence resources to keep Trump from being elected? Did he know about the imbedded spy in the Trump campaign, and the bogus dossier used to tarnish Trump? The same questions go for Hillary Clinton.
With that, the investigation is ongoing and continues. House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, has been seeking answers from Obama administration officials about their role in the Trump fiasco, while demanding documents from a so-far recalcitrant Justice Department about spying on Trump.
So meanwhile, responding to President Trump’s last Sunday tweet, Justice Department Deputy Director Rod Rosenstein this past Monday directed the department’s inspector general to determine “whether there was any impropriety or political motivation” in the FBI’s investigation. If so, it is not a mere political trick, but a gross violation of the law. Richard Nixon never got involved in the political chicanery; but he tried to cover it up, and lost his presidency through his resignation in lieu of impeachment. At the same time President Trump asked for a further investigation.
The spying on the presidential campaign of Donald Trump using a vast array of U.S. intelligence assets and capabilities involving numerous U.S. government agencies is far more serious, both legally and ethically. Former President Obama, if he or his top White House aides knew and participated in these illegal acts of spying on a domestic political campaign, might possibly be charged with abuse of power. Yes, felony crimes. Those officials involved would, and should go to prison. And that, in turn, could lead to the ultimate irony, that being Obama requesting President Trump for a “presidential pardon.” That would be YUGE!
