When the stated goal of a hostile regime threatens your very existence… perhaps, the targeted country must take these threats seriously. How many times must the leaders of Israel’s greatest enemy state their ultimate conquest of the state of Israel ⏤ before the world takes these threats seriously?

Let’s start with the most recent developments of the controversial nuclear deal. President Biden and Israel PM Lapid publicly agree to stop Iran’s nuclear program, but the AP reports that they differ on how to do that. In his recent Middle East trip to Israel, Biden said he still would like to give diplomacy a chance with the revised nuclear deal. Lapid insisted that words alone won’t thwart Tehran’s nuclear ambitions.

“Words will not stop them, Mr. President. Diplomacy will not stop them,” Lapid said. “The only thing that will stop Iran is knowing that if they continue to develop their nuclear program, the free world will use force.” Biden says his patience with Iran was running low, but that he is still hoping to persuade Iran to rejoin the deal that has been dormant.

The New York Times reported in October 2005:

Iran’s conservative new president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, said Wednesday that Israel must be “wiped off the map” and that attacks by Palestinians would destroy it, the ISNA press agency reported.

Ahmadinejad was speaking to an audience of about 4,000 students at a program called “The World Without Zionism,” in preparation for an annual anti-Israel demonstration on the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan.

Referring to comments by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the leader of the Islamic revolution, Ahmadinejad said, “As the imam said, Israel must be wiped off the map.” Ahmadinejad’s predecessor, Mohammad Khatami, in contrast, proposed a dialogue among civilizations and pursued a policy of détente.

In response to Ahmadinejad’s remarks on Wednesday, Mark Regev, a spokesman for the Israeli Foreign Ministry, said that, “Unfortunately, this is not the first time we’ve seen such extreme statements from senior Iranian leaders.”

Reuters reported in September 2012:

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Monday Israel has no roots in the Middle East and would be “eliminated,” ignoring a UN warning to avoid incendiary rhetoric ahead of the annual General Assembly session.

The United States quickly dismissed the Iranian president’s comments as “disgusting, offensive and outrageous.” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has hinted Israel could strike Iran’s nuclear sites and criticized US President Barack Obama’s position that sanctions and diplomacy should be given more time to stop Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

The Times of Israel reported in January 2019:

The deputy head of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said Monday that Tehran’s strategy was to eventually wipe Israel off the “global political map.” Asked by a reporter in Tehran about Israeli threats to strike Iranian forces deployed in Syria, Brig. Gen. Hossein Salami was quoted by Iranian news outlets as saying, “Our strategy is to erase Israel from the global political map. And it seems that, considering the evil that Israel is doing, it is bringing itself closer to that.”

He added: “We announce that if Israel does anything to start a new war, it will obviously be the war that will end with its elimination, and the occupied territories will be returned. The Israelis will not have even a cemetery in Palestine to bury their own corpses.
