It was Nikita Khrushchev who said, The press is our chief ideological weapon.” And Vladimir Lenin said, “The press should be not only a collective propagandist and a collective agitator, but also a collective organizer of the masses.”

It seems like only yesterday that the mainstream media, aka the fake news, had Hilary ahead of Donald Trump by 10 points. Here is Exhibit A, where a scientist from Princeton (the classic Clinton-esque “twofer” – fake science plus name dropping): Survey finds Hillary Clinton has ‘more than 99% chance of winning election over Donald Trump. To keep the drumbeat for voter suppression consistent, The UK’s The Independent (certainly not independent of the Deep State, I’ll warrant!) parroted the story Princeton Election Consortium found Ms. Clinton has a projected 312 electoral votes across the country and only 270 are needed to win.

Fake News Version 1.0

Fake news should come as no shock. In fact, in the US, it goes back hundreds of years, such as the Great Moon Hoax, published in the New York press Aug. 25, 1835, where supposedly Sir John Herschel, one of the most famed astronomers of the time (there’s that fake appeal to “science” gambit again!), purportedly stated he discovered life on the moon. He was “not available” to the public at the time, so, just like the fake news of today, they got away with it…. for a while. Back then, the goal was to sell newspapers. Today, the goal is almost the same – to sell clicks, as well as to hawk the Deep State agenda and fiasco-Marxism, all the while racking in big bucks for the Big Media and their cronies in Big Tech and Big Pharma.

But remember… the hawkers of this Bernie Madoffism always exempt themselves, as we have seen from the Hollyweird Learjet leftists to Zimbabwe’s Robert Mugabe to Venezuela’s Maduro to here in the US Biden improperly avoiding paying Medicare taxes could owe the IRS up to $500,000, according to a Congressional Research Service report.

Or more richly, hypocrite AOC’s ‘Tax the Rich’ dress, whose designer is accused of owing thousands in unpaid taxes and refusing to pay interns. The picture is from the NY Met Gala that costs $30 thousand a ticket to attend, while of course. AOC herself makes $174,000 a year as congresswoman for New York’s 14th Congressional District for 2021-2022. That $174,000 income – not counting retirement, healthcare, office, travel expenses, etc., puts AOC in at least the top 5% income earners in the country. But, as the Wizard told Dorothy when Toto pulled back the curtain on that day’s version of chicanery, pay no attention to that man (or here, woman) behind the curtain.

But not much seems to have changed since Herschel in 1835. Other than the technology. Still the same lies, same fake news, an unsuspecting public, and media shills gaming their platforms for power and money. Only now it is more centralized: Bill Gates, via various structures, owns 113 media outlets, and the six organizations listed below control all you see and hear…. that is, if you stick to the lamestream media. WebFX puts out a simple infographic that tells it all (see the link for a more legible rendering, but the fact that there are so many entries is Exhibit A of the central fact that  they own everything:

This concentration of information dissemination is no better than a concentration of power. The total value of these companies is $430 billion… just slightly less than that, say, of the whole country of Belgium at $515 billion. Where do you, gentle reader, think this will lead? In fact, where can it possibly lead? Back 125 years ago, it led, say, to the unnecessary Spanish-American war. Today, that war is against you, the poor, unwashed masses in flyover country.

The truth is, as Charleston Heston wrote, Modern media fills the cultural airwaves with a mist of anesthesia, so that principles and values are slowly desensitized to the coming onslaught. The new culture arrives on the heels of this propaganda. It simply moves in and takes over, like slipping a fine new glove over a numbed hand. The outcome of the war is just as devastating, but without bombs bursting, twisted bodies to bury, or rubble to rebuild. A new class, a different culture, simply takes over. Does what Heston wrote have a ring of truth to you, dear reader?

The Hitch-Hiker’s Brief History of Fake News; The Story Last Century

Let’s look at specifics, with a focus on this century. If you were around almost 100 years ago, you would recognize NY Times Pulitzer Prize winner Walter “I don’t see no stinkin’ starving kulaks in Stalin’s Ukraine” Duranty. Yes, Duranty went to Stalin’s 1930s Soviet Union, and saw nary a starving kulak during Stalin’s Holodomor, which killed anywhere between 3.5 to 7 million, possibly more. (Or as Hillary might say about the exact number, “What does it matter?) Holodomor literally translated from Ukrainian means “death or murder by hunger,” being a compound of the Ukrainian words holod, ‘hunger‘; and mor, ‘plague.’ The expression moryty holodom means “to inflict death by hunger,” and thus the Ukrainian verb moryty (морити) means “to poison, to drive to exhaustion, or to torment. Duranty, and the so-called “newspaper of record” saw and reported on none of this under Duranty and his “eye-witness” visit.

Dead child on the streets of Kharkiv, Ukraine, during the Holodomor, photo by Alexander Wienerberger, 1933.

Then there was famed reporter, and Duranty contemporary, Lincoln “I have seen the future in Stalin’s USSR, and it works” Steffens. Like Duranty, his visits to Stalin’s USSR showed nothing but a workers’ paradise. The quote here has different permutations, as he uttered it at multiple events in slightly varied forms. But if you lived in Stalin’s leftist dystopia, the syntax meant the exact same thing: death, poverty, destruction, and elimination of freedom.

And of course, Hitler and his propagandist lead Goebbels, were fake news ubermeschen.

But let’s leave those easy pickings from the National SocialistGerman Workers’ Party aside for now. Recall the 1992 Nobel Prize and 1998 Prince of Asturias Award (in addition to other prestigious awards) cause célèbre Rigoberta Menchu? For her book I, Rigoberta Menchú, published in 1983, where she supported Marxist guerillas (yes, the same Marxists that, per The Black Book of Communism, Harvard Univ. Press), murdered 100 million last century, she was fêted everywhere, and her book, published in 1983, was a fixture across universities. That is, until David Stoll, a Stanford graduate student in anthropology, and leftist himself, while doing his dissertation in Guatemala, went past the site where Ms. Menchú’s brother was supposedly tortured and burned to death. When he mentioned it to a villager, that person told him that no one had ever been burned to death there. One thing led to another, and, yes… yet another leftist fake news item bit the dust. Stoll, of course, was trolled by other fellow leftists for having the temerity to reveal the truth. Perhaps her Nobel Prize was arguably more merited than Barack Obama’s, which he got for doing nothing, or Al Gore’s, which he got for his global warming gambit, where in fact, scientists at the National Snow and Ice Data Center announced Sept. 2021 that the Arctic ice sheet now extends 25 percent further than it did last summer, with 1.82 million square miles of ice at its annual low. No, Al, no one is kayaking across the North Pole with record ice…. although perhaps the seas did stop rising under Obama, as his uber-luxe mansion on uber-luxe Martha’s Vineyard, actual address at 79 Turkeyland Cove Rd, is 3 feet above sea level. What is my elevation? See the details yourself at the link, and check out his humble digs below:

Returning to the fake newspaper of record, NY Times, you may also recall wunderkind, fiction writer Jayson Blair, who resigned in 2003 after he was outed for stories—some front page—that were fabricated or plagiarized, or on TV around that same time Dan “I found a memo!” Rather, who later gave way to Brian, “I was fired on” Williams. All fitting heirs to fakes that I grew up with, such as Walter “the most trusted man in America” Cronkite gravely intoning (regardless of how you felt about its rightness) that the Viet Nam war was being lost during the Tet offensive, while at the same time North Viet General Giap admitted later on in his memoirs that all was lost unless the American public was lied to and told they were losing. And don’t forget Vietnam reporter Peter Arnett and his famed supposed quote from a US officer that I grew up on, We had to destroy the village to save it – except that this was later proven to be – wait for it! – another media fake, and when pressed, he never could provide evidence of who, exactly, said it.

And of course, when Antifa has to burn Portland, OR. to “save it” – or even better, burn a Bible with the city, as you see the Antifa thug here doing during the Portland riots the fiasco-Marxist media has no problems.

The Hitch-Hiker’s Brief History of Fake News; The Story Continues

Some fake news is lost in the shrouds of history… so I am here to help! For example, think Mikey Isikoff in Newsweek’s infamous May 9, 2005 issue that cited some “unnamed source” saying the Qu’ran was trashed at Guantanamo – and was later proven false, but not after many were killed in the rioting that ensued overseas. (Remember, no matter if people die… as long as leftist political ends are met, right?) Or perhaps you prefer Charles Jaco of CNN “reporting live from Saudi Arabia” in the 1990″ Iraq war…. or, should I say, in front of a fake green screen. If you need a refresher, here is a video clip of the broadcast (which I saw myself). Or if that has been Orwellian memory-holed, see here as well. The fake news doesn’t care if you see this now (which is why it is allowed on co-opted Youtube), as this has already gone down the Orwellian memory hole of the general public, so they don’t care. Only I suggest you should care, as they continue to do this stuff today, only even more so.

Then there is my all-time favorite, James Reston writing about Teddy Kennedy and his antics – shall we call it manslaughter, perhaps? –  with  Mary Jo Kopechne,  by starting his story on this in the newspaper of record, NY Times, with Tragedy has again struck the Kennedy family (and not mentioning Mary Jo Kopechne until the fourth paragraph, perhaps as no more than presumably an afterthought; and no tragedy for her family, who lost a young, beautiful, talented daughter).

Present History

Don’t forget Brian Ross at ABC lying on air about the Flynn episode in 2017. Same Ross who had previously, errr… not exactly told the truth about other of his fake news events, such as him (and Glenn Thrush) being suspended for four weeks by promoting a fake story that caused a minor stock market crash. And also, don’t forget Newsweek – which was raided by the IRS in 2018 in a fraud probe for which a former owner pleaded guilty, and subsequently had to fire dozens of editors. It has gotten so embarrassing that Glenn Greenwald, who resigned from the Intercept he helped found in Oct. 2020 after its editors refused to publish real investigative journalism into the Biden corruption, about whom Greenwald wrote, was the candidate vehemently supported by all Intercept editors. He noted the Intercept had now engaged in The same trends of repression, censorship, and ideological homogeneity plaguing the national press generally have engulfed the media outlet I co-founded, culminating in censorship of my own articles.

What did The Intercept do in response to Greenwald leaving? Why of course! They attempted to raise money off of it, as here. The truth is, the biggest money grubbers around are the left. Then there Jussie Smollett, whom I personally watched on TV, as he described, while crying to fake news doyenne Robin Roberts, how MAGA hat-wearing thugs racially abused him, while trying to put a noose around his neck. Dismissively, Roberts insinuates anyone having the temerity to doubt this should at least be ashamed… and of course, as always, must be racist (“racism!”… the last refuge of the intellectual cowards.)

Fake News in an Age of Covid

How about the ever-groovy, bell-bottom wearing Rolling Stone, which, trying to get a Clintonesque “twofer,” added to its repertoire of previous fakery, such as the Univ. of Virginia fake gang rape story a few years ago (even USA Today got was embarrassed about that one, here), with new fake ivermectin story at Northeastern Health System, Sequoyah, Oklahoma. Here, the fake news was too ignorant and lazy to even call the hospital in question to verify their fake story. In sum, Dr. Jason McElyea is supposed to have said that gunshot victims couldn’t get medical care due to people overdosing on ivermectin. The “tw o-fer” here is the holier-than-thou leftist dissing them thar gun-toters in the flyover land of Oklahoma while at the same time throwing in dissing ivermectin. Unfortunately, the hospital came out and stated NHS Sequoyah has not treated any patients due to complications related to taking ivermectin. This includes not treating any patients for ivermectin overdose. All patients who have visited our emergency room have received medical attention as appropriate. Our hospital has not had to turn away any patients seeking emergency care… And McElyea is not an employee of NHS Sequoyah; he is affiliated with a medical staffing group that provides coverage for our emergency room (but). McElyea has not worked at our Sallisaw location in over two months.

In fact, the doctor never even made the claim. A few low profile stories dealt after the fact, such as International Business Daily, Rolling Stone Under Fire Over False Report About Ivermectin Overdoses Preventing Gunshot Victims From Receiving Treatment or Big Media falls for fake story on Ivermectin overdoses in Oklahoma; Promotes new narrative, but suffice to this was smeared all over the public discourse by all-too-eager news media, including MSNBC, Yahoo News, the New York Daily News, Newsweek, The Guardian, Newsweek, and Business Insider. Heck, the story even ran with pictures of people standing in line to “prove” it was true… and nary a soul who shared this on Twitter was banned, nor did Snopes or FactCheck.org run any stories on it while it was still in the news cycle. Quod erat demonstrandum.

Oh yes. Notice the photo of those Okies in the picture above. They used an old AP photo of folks waiting in line… and the people pictured were wearing parkas in the sweltering hot Oklahoma summer. This, mes amis, is the news you are swallowing on a daily basis.

The toxicology about ivermectin is, courtesy of Dr. Chris Martenson, Ph.D. in pathology, Duke Univ., already published. Not that facts or science matter to journalism majors. This information is readily available, but like the Rolling Stone article on those hordes in rube-filled Oklahoma, simple journalistic due diligence was never done. In fact, toxicology is a specific area of expertise for Dr. Martenson. For your own edification, he discusses the “danger of ivermectin toxicity here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATiX0-2PEr4 (and this gets banned, try his own website at https://www.peakprosperity.com/about/). Martenson even discusses a woman who tried to kill commit suicide with ivermectin at the 17 min mark, using 100x the recommended dosage – she did end up in the hospital for a few days but was treated and released. She probably spent less time in hospital than if she had eaten 100x the normal amount of jalapenos. And, of course, this is not as if one took 100x the dosage for Tylenol, where you would not come out alive. Yeah… Tylenol is more lethal than ivermectin. Guess they “forgot” to tell you that at CNN and NPR. Note that there are ZERO deaths from ivermectin in the literature. Martenson notes there are cases of kids finding cigarette butts granny left under the table, chewing on them, and dying from nicotine, but so far, ZERO cases of lethal outcomes for ivermectin as of Feb. 2021.

Fake News Visits the Weather Channel, and even the NY Times Itself

And for a change of pace, let’s go to the Weather Channel – watch as the broadcaster “struggles” to keep his feet…. as two passersby casually saunter by in the background with zero effect on their stroll. Or better, see the Conan O’Brien take on fake weather news here:… or just see the scripted news in general O’Brien reveals here or here. Of course, the pudding-headed audience in the first clip, proving the point of media indoctrination, claps frantically at the gay marriage announcement.

And don’t forget Elizabeth Spayd and the NY Times. ZeroHedge says Elizabeth Spayd became the Times’ last public editor. During her relatively short tenure, she fielded criticism about controversies such as the Times’ increase in “native advertising,” meaning ads seamlessly are worked into the fabric of the publication as if they were a news story. Spayd called the uncomfortable mix of commercials and journalism a proven winner in terms of revenue. She noted that “The vast majority of readers apparently find it un-objectionableShe drew that conclusion in part, she said, because she had received few complaints about it. ZeroHedge adds that Actually, the lack of complaints might have been because most readers don’t recognize native advertising when they are reading it. That’s the whole point: it is advertising disguised as news.

Fake News South of the Border

Then there is this classic story from the tin horns in the media who don’t know the front end of a horse from the back, but starting frothing at the mouth over an illegal immigrant being “whipped.” Or not.  And one “news” outlet after another, not bothering to do even rudimentary due diligence, followed each other down this ugly hole. CNN’s Chris Cuomo – the same one you may remember doing did a fake home confinement when he had Covid but was caught visiting his new mansion at another location by a bicyclist – said It does smack of a bygone era of slavery aided by reports of people being beaten whether with a rioting crop or the reins, most likely. And of course, “Circle back Psaki” weighed in with I’ve also seen the video. I can’t imagine what the scenario is where that would be appropriate; adding the footage is horrible to watch, and added president Biden similarly believes the images from Del Rio are horrific and horrible.

Yes, the fake news doesn’t know a horse rein from a whip… or, presumably, the front end of a horse from the back.

Fake News: The Final Frontier

More recently, the “fact-checkers” at the fake news have shut up people like Nobel Laureate Luc Montagnier, whose prize was in medicine, and who also is a virologist, telling him to stop spreading “misinformation”; or, similarly, to Dr. Robert Malone, who is the primary inventor of the mRNA platform (who just might know a thing or two about the Covid shot, don’t you think?) The fake “fact-checkers” at Wikipedia actually removed Malone. Yes, you read that right – the very inventor of the product is removed from commenting on it when he strays off the reservation. If this reminds you of what the Soviets did, making certain people “non-persons,” you are right. But we have gone beyond that – now we self-censor (not that different from Mao’s Cultural Revolution society and its forced “self-confession), where 80% of university students self-censor their viewpoints on campus. Yes, the exact same campuses that not that long ago marched, under the leadership of Mario Savio and the free speech movement, which started on the student union steps of UC Berkeley, insisting on freedom of thought as speech. These exact same folks have now morphed into the campus speech and thought police, of course.

The truth was inadvertently let out a century ago, by Edward Louis Bernays 1891 (Vienna) – 1995, referred to in his obituary as “the father of public relations” – and also knowns as the father of propaganda. Bernays was named one of the 100 most influential Americans of the 20th century by life. Read the below carefully, for this is the future of you, and your children, if you do not stand up to these unelected elites:

“The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in a democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country. …We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of. This is a logical result of the way in which our democratic society is organized. Vast numbers of human beings must cooperate in this manner if they are to live together as a smoothly functioning society. …In almost every act of our daily lives, whether in the sphere of politics or business, in our social conduct, or our ethical thinking, we are dominated by a relatively small number of persons…who understand the mental processes and social patterns of the masses. It is they who pull the wires which control the public mind.”

Edward Bernays, in his not surprisingly named book Propaganda

Nobel laureate Elie Wiesel also went through times that he didn’t choose – namely, a Nazi concentration camp he would rather have not lived through. Upon accepting the Nobel Prize, he said I swore never to be silent whenever and wherever human beings endure suffering and humiliation. We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormenter, never the tormented.

The truth is when having the book burners, or those who suppress information, ever been on the right side of history? Since Copernicus? Since Galileo? Since the Inquisition? Perhaps since Hitler had published (in addition to his regular book burnings) 100 Scientists Against Einstein?

The truth is, fake news is not book-burning… it is worse. It is the burning of intellectual honesty, of science, and of truth.

Now you know. Question is, what will you do.

Brilliant piece, of course! It’s extremely frustrating to see citizens of a nation whose very foundations were established on Freedom of Speech (and, necessarily integral, Freedom of Thought), and whose recent ancestors (some of whom are still alive) fought against the evils of Nazi oppression, to engage in these evil practices that we were so certain would never (nor COULD ever) come to fruition.

Blaise Vanne leaves nothing to chance with his ability to research facts and to write in a convincingand brilliant way about them. Vanne’s commentary should be read far and wide. This nation is fast descending into Communism. When will patriots begin to rise up to say enough is enough?
