If we look at our founding documents, we see how our governments at all levels are designed to work. If we look at what has been going on over the last few decades, we can see that those governments are broken. People ask me if the Constitution matters anymore. Today, I answer yes and no. The Constitution only matters if We the People enforce it.
In a recent interview, I was asked if having an independent government was important. My answer was no, we don’t want a government that is independent from the people who created it. That would lead to a ruling class, an oligarchy. So if our government is broken, what can we do about it? We start by understanding how the government of the United States is designed to work, what our role is as citizens, and that the Constitution is our legal authority to say no. The question is, will the people of the United States stand their ground and say no, or sit back and watch while our country spirals down the drain into despotism.
