When the original States declared themselves independent, they stated that governments are created to serve the people by protecting their rights. Over the decades and centuries, the role of government has changed. This change came partly due to both the desire for power and the willingness of the people to be ruled. But what is the cost of this servitude to government? While we were all promised an idyllic future if we just let government take care of us. However, recent events should show us that the cost of servitude may be significant indeed.
