Amidst revelations about her extramarital affairs with two different staffers, Democratic Representative Katie Hill has resigned. Rather than accepting the blame for her ethics violations, she blamed a double standard for her problems.
How soon she has forgotten the many men who have left political offices in recent years for inappropriate photos, sexting, touching, words and affairs. Katie Hill did pretty much all those things and she deserves to be removed from office.
As a reminder, let’s recall Joe Barton, Mark Souder, Christopher Lee (who only sent an email of himself shirtless, but had no affair), Tim Murphy, Anthony Weiner, Robert Livingston, Al Franken, and very recently, Steve Easterbrook, CEO of McDonalds, who was fired for an inappropriate relationship with an employee.
Coming to Hill’s defense were the three congresswomen, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar and Ayanna Pressley. Isn’t that rich! AOC said this doesn’t happen to male members in the same way. Wrong AOC. The “me too” movement has outed as many men as they could find, even accusing innocent men with no evidence (Justice Kavanaugh), and more have had to resign and have even been prosecuted than ever before. This is a woman who is being investigated for misappropriation of her campaign funds.
AOC can’t find enough things wrong with everyone and everything in America. She smears people in the halls of Congress like Mark Zuckerberg and Tom Homan yet defends Katie Hill.
Ilhan Omar tweeted that “We must and will create a society where you cannot be defamed, smeared and kept from your career aspirations because of smear campaigns.” This is hypocrisy at its finest, from a woman who illegally marries her brother to get him into the country, and fraudulently files taxes with another man, then divorces the brother, marries the other man, has an adulterous affair with a married man and pays him with campaign funds to travel to their trysts, then gets divorced again. All the while, she is smearing Israel, Jews, the President and America, while taking campaign funds from foreign countries who are not our friends.
I question why Omar is even still in office.
I’m not clear why Ayanna Pressley would stand behind Hill as she at times goes along with the Squad and at times seems to find her way as her own voice. She speaks a lot about white supremacy and xenophobia in reference to our President, but is ready to accept bad behavior from another liberal woman in politics.
All of these women took ethics oaths and at least 3 of them have violated them. If the oaths mean nothing, there is anarchy. We who vote them into office expect them to keep their oaths of office. We do not expect our representatives to condone lawlessness as Ocasio Cortez did in New York with demonstrators damaging police cars and jumping over Subway turnstiles without paying.
Our representatives who make our laws, must obey our laws. They must not lie. They must not abdicate their fiduciary responsibilities in paying friends and bedpartners with taxpayer and donor monies for their own pleasures. Their taxes should be done honestly and legally. They should not be condoning unethical and bad behavior on the part of other representatives, and they should not be excusing, condoning and supporting lawless behavior on the part of demonstrators or the public.
The example these ladies show is a horrible one. It is bad for our country and bad for our youth. Our elected officials in every office are elected to uphold our laws, to support the rule of law, to uplift our country and be a shining example for our children. Where are we going here America? Can’t we cast ballots to elect people with ethics to uplift our country instead of dragging us all down to gutter level?
What is the end game here; to raise us up as a nation, or to bring us down to 3rd world lawlessness and chaos?
Elections are coming. We all need to think long and hard about the road we are on and the future we want for all Americans. I for one, do not want lawless lawmakers. I want people of morals and ethics and honesty to lead America and keep her the greatest country on earth. I do not buy that we must accept dishonest politicians who are there to take America down, or there to feather their financial nests.
I believe we can do better than Katie Hill, Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, Mitt Romney, Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff and so many more. Our future depends on rational, thinking, informed voters, not people who swill from the media fountains of disinformation.
It’s not OK to defend anarchy, to accept ethics violations, to accept lawless politicians. We can do so much better. We must do so much better. We are at a crossroads and in a crisis of morally corrupt, swamp dwelling, deep state politicians. We must make our vote change the tide and take back our constitution, our rule of law, our respect for law enforcement and our Presidency, and to save our religious freedoms and our healthcare, our opportunity and our American Democracy for future generations.
