In their ludicrous particulate matter emissions regulation, the PM2.5 rule, the brain trust in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) claims that exposure to particles in the air as small as 2.5 millionth of a meter can cause sudden death. The 1997 rule was based on “secret science” that flies in the face of epidemiological evidence, demonstrating that these particles are absolutely harmless and present nearly everywhere.
This topic is especially important because the industry is being held to standards that are unneeded yet cost everyone a fortune. Our guest today, Steve Milloy, a scientist and lawyer famous for his 20-year-old website junkscience.com, tells us about coal miners who are exposed to high levels of very small particulate matter. The U.S. National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, studying 8,899 underground coal miners, reported that the death rate for coal miners did not differ in any meaningful way from the average American worker, and this even though 54% of the miners were smokers.
Mr. Milloy, a widely recognized leader in the fight against junk science, has a Natural Sciences B.A. and a Master of Health Sciences with a focus on biostatistics, both from Johns Hopkins University. He also has a Juris Doctorate from the University of Baltimore and a Master of Laws from Georgetown University.
Mr. Milloy has a wide background as an environmental and public health consultant, a biostatistician, a securities lawyer, a columnist on science and business issues, and even a coal company executive. He also served on the EPA transition team for the Trump administration.
Besides over 600 articles published in leading media outlets, Mr. Milloy has authored six books, his most recent being the No. 1 Best Seller “Scare Pollution: Why and How to Fix the EPA.”
Join us today for the inside story of corruption, pseudoscience, and criminal behavior inside the EPA.
