What is a tyrant? Do Americans live under a tyrant? Since Merriam-Webster defines a tyrant as “an absolute ruler unrestrained by law or constitution, a usurper of sovereignty,” then I would say the answer is yes, the American people are living not only under one tyrant, but under many. There are plenty of examples of American tyranny at home. From the U.S. Postal Service apparently spying on American’s social media activities to the FBI classifying an attempted assassination as “suicide by cop,” apparently for political reasons.
So what are the American people to do in the face of this modern tyranny on our soil? Can we avoid the need to fight on the battlefield as those in the Revolutionary War did? The answer is yes, but we will need to learn to fight both at the ballot box and in our county courthouses if we are to alter our governments before our children are forced to abolish it by force of arms.
