One of my favorite stories in the Bible involves Ahab, the king of Israel, and Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah. Ahab gathered about 400 prophets, and advisors, and asked them if he should attack a city known as Ramoth Gilead. All 400 agreed… well, all except one. Micaiah, known as a prophet of God, was “encouraged” to agree with the other prophets. However, he had promised the king to only tell him the truth. When Micaiah told the king that he would die at Ramoth Gilead, Ahab was furious, and put him in prison with only bread and water.
Micaiah had a choice, follow the consensus or the truth. Knowing that the truth was not popular at the time, Micaiah still placed it above “going along to get along.” Today, I have the pleasure of talking with another advisor who has placed truth above consensus and is paying the price. This is not a question of should America attack a city, but the facts about COVID-19, the jab, and the long-term consequences of how we handle both.
