There have been several actions taken in recent weeks that impact religious freedom in America. A District Court in New York dealt with a case involving an adoption agency that did not want to be forced to place children with same-sex or unmarried couples. The Supreme Court heard the case of a web developer who did not want to be forced to work on websites that violated her religious beliefs. And Congress passed the so-called Respect for Marriage Act with few protections for the free exercise of religion.
All this made me wonder about the future of Religious Freedom in America. Let’s look at these recent events, and the reasoning behind them, and see if we cannot come up with some predictions of what the future may hold for religious believers in the republic.
