It is said that the first Thanksgiving dates back to 1621, when the pilgrims in Plymouth, Massachusetts, joined in with the local Native Americans to celebrate the fall harvest, today, Thanksgiving is the anniversary of that acknowledged historical event, celebrated every year on the fourth Thursday in the month of November.
Americans honor this traditional holiday giving thanks to our creator for all of our blessings and bounties, including our families, friends, homes, jobs and freedoms.

There is so much magic in the air, mixed with the aromas of intoxicating delights, and anticipation mounting as the holiday season welcomes the hidden hopes, dreams and wishes for prosperity and healing not only for ourselves, yet for humanity.

Thanksgiving is a time of sharing and caring, where great food, festivities, parades, football games and unique customs are expressed and celebrated and yet the one ingredient you won’t find inside the stuffing because it resides within the hearts and minds of all who greet this holiday as a significant time of year as it represents the connection with the human spirit.
As we bow our heads during grace, it is the traditions of many families to say out loud what they are grateful for, time spent at this sacred dinner table usually lasting hours as fond memories of yesteryear are greeted with laughter and etched in a timeless space of hope, blessed by the souls who shared our life’s lessons along this earthy journey.
In the less than 1% of American homes, there is an empty chair at the Thanksgiving holiday table, this chair is filled with the spirit of freedom and a love like no other, belonging to the Warrior and American family hero who is worlds away in foreign lands or a part of the heavens, the bounties of this soul are endless, they represent the very epitome of Thanksgiving.
A tear is shed as each family members gives thanks for their family hero who sacrificed their very being, remembering John 15:13 “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
November is not only a time of Thanksgiving but an entire month that we celebrate the Veterans, Gold Star and Military families, for it is because of their sacrifices we are a sovereign and grateful nation.
It was stated by the President of the United States of America on November 1, 2017, in a proclamation.
That “Our Veterans and military families are an important part of our lives throughout the year, and by focusing for the first time nationally on a whole month of activities nationwide for Veterans and Military Families Month, we can more fully celebrate and recognize their contributions to the nation,”
If you know a Veteran, active duty service member or Gold Star Family who is without family and friends, invite them into your homes and holiday tables, honor them with a blessed prayer, a shared meal and the gift of your time, it is because of our American military families that Americans are able to count their blessings.
