Joe Kent

Joe Kent isn’t your typical guy running for Congress. In fact, he is a Green Beret, having served in the United States Army from 1998 to 2018, and is ready to serve the country again. He shared with “After Dark With Rob And Andrew” that he decided to run for Congress after Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, “the woman I voted for who I trusted stabbed” his district in the back when she voted to impeach President Trump. He said she also served as a star witness for the Democrats. While for many Trump supporters, that in itself would be a reason to oppose Beutler, Kent said her lack of support for manufacturing jobs in his state is another reason he wants her out of office. He explained manufacturing jobs was a mainstay in the state until Democrats and liked-minded GOP members “gutted” the industry. The Green Beret and huge Trump supporter said he thinks the country still has a chance and we can renew its greatness with the right people.

Joe Kent is a native of Oregon. He enlisted in the Army as an infantryman and earned his way into the Ranger Regiment and then Special Forces. After 9/11, he volunteered to serve in combat which he did for over twenty years and eleven combat deployments. It was in the Army where he met his wife, Shannon, and had two sons. His life took a turn on January 16, 2019, when his wife was killed in Syria just a month after President Trump had tried to get troops out of Syria. Following her death, Kent said he was forced to step back from this military life to take care of their two toddlers. While he says he still has some fight in him, now it is for his district in Washington and to make the country a better place for his sons. The country his wife gave her life for.
