The Problem with Government-Run Schools
America’s education system is under fire as Attorney General Merrick Garland released a memorandum describing how the Federal Bureau of Investigation will coordinate with law enforcement agencies across the country to address threats to school administrators and school board members. The memo states that there has been a “disturbing spike” in the harassment of school staff and a “rise in criminal conduct directed toward school personnel.” There is no proof that involved, concerned parents, are a dangerous threat to school boards⏤reads the USA Today headline on October 7th. “President Joe Biden’s top law enforcement official has made a mountain out a molehill, and as a result, school administrators may threaten parents who are speaking up on behalf of their children.”
It seems parents have had enough and are speaking out and demanding action. At the center of the storm are complaints of a toxic educational agenda where porn is taught freely in the schools, critical race theory in that kids are taught that white people are the oppressors, forcing kids to wear masks, and an overall educational system that itself would get a failing grade. The Biden administration is striking back with attempts to silence parents via intimidation tactics and threats at the local level. With battle lines drawn, and an educational force for good out of the state of Florida is working overtime to deliver tools that can be implemented not only in the state of Florida but throughout the nation, these tools can be replicated anywhere. Managing Director, Keith Flaugh joins Malcolm on The Voice of a Nation to explore the opportunities available in America’s educational system.
The Florida Citizens Alliance has been instrumental in working with the governors’ office to create the BEST constitutionally-based and historically accurate Florida Civics and Government Standards in the nation. The revised Civics and Government standards reflect the following priorities for K-12 Civics and Government teaching and learning in Florida schools:
– Students study primary source documents to understand the philosophical underpinnings of the American Republic and the root cause of American exceptionalism.
– Students compare the success of the United States and the successes or failures of other governing philosophies to evaluate their past, present, and likely future events.
– Students have a sense of civic pride and participate regularly in all levels of government.
– Students reflect upon the United States’ civic history so that they understand their rights and responsibilities as citizens, including the process of advocating properly with government officials.
Keith Flaugh is a Managing Director of Florida Citizens Alliance – an advocate for K-12 education reform in Florida. He is a US Army Veteran. He considers himself a US “Original” Constitutionalist and is fed up with how our political system has been hijacked by both monopoly parties and the Federal Government, with policies and abuse of our US Constitution are bankrupting us morally and financially.
