Two major decisions were handed down by the Supreme Court. The first is the right to carry and the second decision is Roe v. Wade. Roe v. Wade  |  Justice Samuel Alito wrote in the opinion that Roe was “egregiously wrong from the start.” “The Constitution does not confer a right to abortion; Roe and Casey are overruled, and the authority to regulate abortion is returned to the people and their elected representatives,” the majority opinion stated.

How did we get here?  |  Three justices—Brett Kavanaugh, Neil Gorsuch, and Amy Coney Barrett—joined with Justices Clarence Thomas, a George H.W. Bush appointee; John Roberts, a George W. Bush appointee; and Samuel Alito, a George W. Bush appointee to form the majority.

Misinformation Inflamed by False Media Reports, Leftist Organizations, and Pundits  |  “Abortion is a human right,” Amnesty International youth leader said. “A ban on abortions is a ban on safe abortions, and this affects marginalized communities, the poor, and people of color the most. So it’s important that we come out and make our voice heard,” Basu added. “It’s not okay to take away a constitutional right.”

The Trump Factor |  Biden called out Trump’s influence: “It was three justices, named by one president, Donald Trump, who are the core of today’s decision to upend the scales of justice and eliminate a fundamental right for women in this country,” he said.

Trump’s response: “Today’s decision, which is the biggest WIN for LIFE in a generation, along with other decisions that have been announced recently, were only made possible because I delivered everything as promised, including nominating and getting three highly respected and strong Constitutionalists confirmed to the United States Supreme Court,” Trump said.

Asked whether he was responsible for the decision, Trump said, “God made the decision.”

Panel on Supreme Court Ruling ‘Right to Carry’ & Gun Legislation

Gun Legislation  |  “Time is of the essence. Lives will be saved,” Biden said. The bill, known as the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, enhances background checks for gun purchasers between the age of 18 and 21, makes obtaining firearms through straw purchases or trafficking a federal offense, and clarifies the definition of a federally licensed firearm dealer. It allocates $750 million to help states administer red flag laws, which seek to keep guns away from people deemed a threat to themselves or others and other intervention programs, and it includes funding for mental health treatment.

Supreme Court expands gun rights, with nation divided – the AP reports. Justice Clarence Thomas wrote for the majority that the Constitution protects “an individual’s right to carry a handgun for self-defense outside the home.” That right is not a “second-class right,” Thomas wrote. “We know of no other constitutional right that an individual may exercise only after demonstrating to government officers some special need.”
