The Road To Serfdom: Compliance Via COVID-19
Friedrich Hayek’s 1944 book The Road To Serfdom warned us of the danger of an ever-growing government: citizens become serfs. In modern terms, serfs = slaves. They have no rights, aren’t allowed to speak up, their property is controlled by the government (which means in functional terms they have no private property), are told what to do, where to go, and what to think.
Medieval serfs under the feudal system were not allowed to own land. The Lord of the Manor allowed them to live on his land and farm it for him. In return, he offered them protection from invaders. Sound familiar?
We will protect you from the big bad Covid. Obey Us.
In the United States, the rule of law (the Constitution) has been replaced by the rule by Executive Order. Emperor Joe is now the Lord of the Manor, and we act like his serfs or slaves. The Count of Covid, milord Fauci, is his right-hand man. The CCP Covid virus gave federal and state governments the perfect cover for their massive power grab: do what we say or die from Covid. This despite the low mortality rate from Covid, which they cleverly hide from us.
Like the medieval Lord of the Manor, the government claims to be our only protection from the invading CCP Covid. Notice how most state and local governments quickly made the distribution of the vaccine a government monopoly? Before Covid, flu shots weren’t government-controlled; you could get them at any pharmacy. Governments want the power of life and death over us.
How did we get here?
Fabian Socialism in 1880s England advocated gradually turning a country socialist by small changes introduced year by year. According to Britannica, “the name derives from Quintus Fabius Maximus Verrucosus, the Roman general famous for his delaying tactics against Hannibal during the Second Punic War.” Gradual small changes, all in the direction of more government control, is the strategy the Democratic Socialists used to get us here.
In America, we know this strategy as “How to boil a frog.” If you drop the frog in boiling water, he hops out immediately. Put him in a pot of water and gradually increase the temperature. He stays put until it is too late.
Democrat Socialists have been turning up the heat on American freedom for years. Always under the guise of a noble cause: save the planet, global warming, end global hunger, equality for minorities, equality of outcomes, etc. And now the latest noble cause: prevent the spread of the CCP Covid virus.
We are the Frog
In the field of behavioral psychology, this is similar to treatment for phobias known as Systematic Desensitization. A colleague of mine had a fear of flying, yet her job required her to travel on airplanes. Using this technique, she practiced a relaxation exercise in a gradual sequence: first, in the airport just looking at airplanes, then at a gate watching others board an airplane, then (with the help of a gate agent) standing in the jetway leading to the plane, then sitting in an aircraft parked for the night. She gradually overcame her phobia and began to fly for her job.
Similarly, the Left and Democratic Socialists have desensitized us to a gradual loss of our freedoms. First, just looking at Socialists. “See Bernie Sanders? He looks nice enough, doesn’t he?” Then, watching others surrender control over their healthcare. “Look at Romney Care in Massachusetts. It’s not so bad. Now let’s try ObamaCare.” Then watching neighbors forced to shut down their small businesses. “It’s to prevent Covid, so I guess it’s OK.” Then laid off from your own job, “It’s to prevent Covid, so I guess I have to.” Then you get extra unemployment money from the Federal Government. It now pays more to stay home than to work.
Guess what? Now you are on the Federal payroll. They own you. What government gives; government can take away. You depend on them just as they planned.
Notice how personal and controlling the Imperial Covid Commands are:
- Shut down your small business (we control your business)
- No family gatherings for weddings, Thanksgiving, etc. (we control your family)
- Wear a mask (we control your breathing)
- Sanitize your hands (we control your hands)
- Keep 6 feet away from one another (we control your feet)
- Socially ostracize anyone not following these commands (we control others though you, our willing accomplice in social control)
Before Covid, with similar infectious diseases like the flu, we all made our own decisions about avoiding catching it, and we did fine.
Comply! The Biden-Borg Hive Mind Commands You.
As a fan of the Star Trek series of TV shows, I remember the invading enemy known as the Borg. The Borg “assimilated” other species into the “hive mind,” whereby everybody thought the same thoughts and obeyed the same orders. Their two key sayings were “Resistance is futile!” and “Comply.” No personal freedom, no individuality, just compliance to central authoritarian tyrants.
We hear the string of orders from the state, local, and federal branches of government all have one theme: Comply! And their orders are all so similar. I wonder if they are all controlled by a Socialist Biden-Borg Hive Mind?
What do you think? Better think for yourself while you still can, before the Socialist Hive Mind controls what you think.
