To put this in perspective, the unfolding event at the end of 2020 hasn’t happened since Medieval times. Astronomers call the event the Great Conjunction. It’s when Jupiter and Saturn will be only one 10th of one degree apart in the sky. This is the closest Jupiter and Saturn have appeared in our night sky since 1623. The question most being asked is if this is the same celestial event that led the wise men to Joseph, Mary, and the birth of Jesus – the Star of Bethlehem? The Star of Bethlehem was an extremely close conjunction of Venus and Jupiter on June 17 in the year 2 BC. As with most deep discussions of faith and science – we humans always try to explain our way in or out of our very existence.
If this is a scientific event, does it take away from the spiritual event that became known as the Star of Bethlehem? Today’s program is a conjunction of science and faith with two extraordinary experts: Tom Harris is executive director of the Ottawa, Canada-based International Climate Science Coalition. Dr. Elizabeth Lee Vliet is an independent physician specializing in preventive and climacteric medicine.
