The Swamp Endures
In Episode 26 of Viewpoint Presents with Malcolm and Michael Johns, Malcolm and Michael describe the expeditious, bold, and effective tactics Biden’s team is using to purge just about anything and everything related to Donald Trump. As Biden spoke to his small inaugural crowd of the need for “unity” in American politics, Trump’s political appointees were being shown the door by Biden’s operatives. This contrasts markedly with the Trump administration’s arrival in January 2017, which was followed by months and even years of staffing delays and debacles that left large numbers of Obama holdovers and vacancies in place as the Trump agenda stalled. And when positions were actually filled, they often were by Republican establishment types who did not subscribe to Trump’s policy agenda. In fact, quite a few spent their time in the Trump administration resisting the actual agenda they were ostensibly hired to advance. And when they were finally replaced, or quit, quite a few went on to write damaging tell-all books lambasting Trump’s practices and policies. Staffing mismanagement, Malcolm and Michael contend, were accountable for a large percentage of Trump’s political and policy failures these past four years and may have played a significant role in his November 3 electoral defeat.

But Biden arrives with his own problems, and they are already evident several days in. His inaugural speech was rambling, unremarkable, and will likely be quickly forgotten. It was perhaps most notable for what it did not accomplish. There was no reference to nearly any of the nation’s most pressing challenges. His rhetoric on the pandemic referenced vague and general policies largely already in place. China’s Communist Party is widely considered to represent the most significant geopolitical, economic and military threat to the U.S. in the coming years and decades. Biden made not one mention of them or of any plan to hold them accountable for the vast pandemic they unleashed on the world. There was no mention of healthcare. Nor any mention of how his fiscal plan of raising taxes and regulations on companies and taxpayers will do anything but dig us further into the current pandemic-related economic ditch. There was no mention of his plans for the courts or the politically vital filibuster rule in the Senate. No plans articulated for dealing with violent crime, which has taken a large number of innocent lives in the past year and cost billions in property damage. Biden offered no rhetorical support for law enforcement. He made no mention of his scandalously controversial plan to leave our borders largely open and unsecured. He offered no plans for our broken cities, or job creation, space exploration, or education, or for America’s 21st-century role in a world increasingly characterized by China’s ascent.
As winter kicks into high gear, a saddening reality is now clear: the swamp has not been drained at all. The swamp has outlived Trump’s once-promising presidency and even blossomed. Over seventy million American supporters of Trump’s Make America Great Again (MAGA) agenda now retreat, with disorganization, shock, and uncertainty, to plan their next move. With all of the executive and legislative branches now in the hands of very progressive Democrats, Malcolm and Michael say the time has come for new national leadership in the conservative movement and Republican Party that can embrace and carry on the fight in Trump’s absence. With Viewpoint now sponsored by Shop to the Right, a growing national organization that is networking freedom-loving Americans with freedom-loving providers of goods and services, the role of America Out Loud is poised to help point the way to the causes, issues, and messages that can begin to represent a comeback for the founding principles and MAGA agenda that still has solutions and a founding but, for the first time in four years, no federal governmental power.
