Our name may be the “United States of America,” but after last week, we are now the “Tyrannical States of America!”
We have the President and his press secretary confessing on national television that they are out to destroy your right to freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and to be secure from unreasonable searches. And the American people do nothing.
They have admitted that the Biden Administration is committing a crime by denying the American people their rights protected by the Constitution of the United States, a federal crime punishable by a fine and up to one year in jail, and the American people do nothing.
We have members of Congress and the Executive Branch crushing freedom of speech, and the American people do nothing.
Members of the government in Washington, D.C., are claiming the right to determine what can be shared in public, which should terrify any freedom-loving American. Yet, it appears that we are doing nothing.
Benjamin Franklin, writing as Silence Dogood, said: “Without Freedom of Thought, there can be no such Thing as Wisdom; and no such Thing as Public Liberty, without Freedom of Speech; which is the Right of every Man, as far as by it, he does not hurt or control the Right of another: And this is the only Check it ought to suffer, and the only Bounds it ought to know.”
There will be no public liberty when those in government destroy freedom of speech. And without the freedom to hear other points of view, there can be no freedom of thought. Has the sacred fire of liberty gone out in America? Are we truly no longer the land of the free? If we are too afraid to stand up to tyranny so publicly announced, can we call ourselves the home of the brave? And if liberty dies in America, where will we go to breathe free?
