There is an average of about 1,700 satellites in space that are vulnerable to attack, compromise, and run interference. Protecting these assets is of utmost concern to national security, as our adversaries⏤China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea, continue to pursue weapons to blind, jam, and disable our navigation and communication satellites. The Space Force will be the sixth branch of the United States Military.

Interestingly, the United States Space Force is not a brand new military idea, it was actually established as a functioning entity in 1985, yet did not survive the merger with the United States Strategic Command (STRATCOM) following 9/11.

The beauty behind Space Force operations is it will draw on certain existing infrastructure and assets rather than build an entirely new force from the ground up, with the incorporation of intelligence agencies there will be tens of thousands of military personnel, contractors and civilians operating and supporting our space systems.

President Trump made history on Friday, December 20th, 2019 at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, with the progression of our increased security protection, and for the first time in seventy-two years, creating a new division to the U.S. Armed Forces, by signing the National Defense Authorization Act of 2020, The Defense Authorization Act of 2020 includes a total of $738 billion with a $22 billion increase over last year for the Department of Defense.

As the President signed this new addition to our national defense he stated:

“It’s a big moment. That’s a big moment and we’re all here for it. Space, Going to be a lot of things happening in space,” Trump added. “Because space is the world’s newest warfighting domain amid grave threats to our national security, American superiority in space is absolutely vital. And we’re leading, but we’re not leading by enough. The Space Force will help us deter aggression and control the ultimate high ground.”

This Space Policy Directive Four is a measure that is taken to establish the creation of the U.S. Space Force, which President Trump announced in August of 2018, and with the passage of this NDAA from both sides of the political aisle, the transition to a separate branch of service would begin even as the first Chief Of Space Operations becomes a member of the Joint Chief Of Staff.

General John Raymond, the commander of US Space Command and Air Force Space Command is the official first member of our nation’s sixth official Military branch. It’s an exciting moment in time for the United States and another level towards the protection of our cybersecurity force.

General Raymond inherited 87 units with about 624 personnel, covering “missile warning, satellite operations, space control, and space support. This was effective August 29, 2019, which marked the official launch date of U.S. Space Command.

This U.S. Space Command should not be confused with the already existing Air Force Space Command, which is a service-specific operation of the United States Air Force known as a Major Command or MajCom.

It’s been about 72 years since the United States of America has last seen a new military branch, the last time was when the U.S. Air Force became part of the U.S Army.

Under this new office, the law states that the Air Force Command will be re-designated as the United States Space Force.

The budget agreement mentions the Space Force will be “organized, trained, and equipped to provide, freedom of operation for the United States in, from, and to space; and prompt and sustained space operations.”

The final version of the proposed FY2020 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), aka the Defense Budget, includes a total of $738 billion. (a 22 billion dollar increase over last year’s budget) for the Department of Defense. Current Status (12-20-2019): President Trump signed the defense budget that will keep the government funded through Sept 30th, averting the possibility of a shutdown.

The Air Force which will be comprised of the mass of manpower envisions a force of no less than 200 immediate personnel, about 151 Air Force personnel, 24 Army, 14 Navy, and nine additional Pentagon personnel, and the U.S. Intelligence community. they expect an average of over 15,000 Air Force personnel could transfer over to the Space Force.

The USSF traces its origins to the Arctic Project, a project intended to weaponize satellites, giving them the capabilities of orbital bombardment during the Third World War, which was officially founded on September 11, 2017, the USSF is the largest Space Force in the known galaxy, the official USSF played its first major role in the Succession Wars (2176-2180)

The Chief of Space Operations will report to the Secretary of the Air Force, as the Commandant of the Marine Corps reports to the Secretary of the Navy.

For the record, it was a bipartisan defense budget agreement that authorized the creation of the Space Force, and the military’s sixth military force will work under the Pentagon, like the Air Force and Army. This service will be under the direction of the Chief of Space Operations, taking over space functions from existing services and combining them into a single independent branch.

Currently, our space-related efforts are a combination from the Air Force, Army, and Navy in addition to the intelligence in the National Reconnaissance Office and Space Missile Systems Center, where about 80 percent of space-qualified personnel are within the Air Force, yet all services have personnel with space expertise.

The addition of Space Force would strategically enforce 100 percent of space, protecting the network of satellites and other hardware used in the effectiveness of Global Positioning System (GPS) operations.

The organizations from CENTCOM to SOUTHCOM are all considered Geographic Combatant Commands, with SOCOM through CYBERCOM being Functional Combatant Commands.

The new Space Force would be designed as a Combatant Command similar to those already established including:
CENTCOM (Current Page); U.S.Central Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Tampa, Florida
AFRICOM: U.S. Africa Command, Kelley Barracks, Stuttgart, Germany
EUCOM: U.S. European Command, Patch Barracks, Stuttgart, Germany
NORTHCOM: U.S. Northern Command, Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado
INDOPACOM, U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii
SOUTHCOM: U.S. Southern Command, Miami, Florida
SOCOM: U.S. Special Operations Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Tampa, Florida
TRANSCOM: U.S. Transportation Command, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois
STRATCOM: U.S. Strategic Command, Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska
CYBERCOM: U.S. Cyber Command, Fort Meade, Maryland

According to the 2020 National Defense Authorization Agreement, also known as the U.S. defense budget, the Pentagon will re-designate the U.S. Air Force’s Space Command the U.S. Space Force, hence making it a division of the Air Force into a separate service.

2020 and 2021 will oversee the training and manning details of this sixth newest military branch, there will be a total of 16,000 active-duty airmen and civilians assigned to the Space Force while working at the Air Force Command.

The Department of Defense considers space a warfighting domain, the new space-based missions could include counterintelligence and other operations designed to push back against those threats to deter and counter us in space by China and other nations that launch satellites, GPS technology, experiment with space-based research, etc. on a regular basis, and let’s not leave out nuclear deterrence.

These security issues haven’t been explored since the Reagan era, missile defense strategy, as it was during the 1980s, that former President Ronald Reagan announced a controversial and trailblazing program called the “Strategic Defense Initiative” (SDI) aka “Star Wars” this program was a space-based weapons systems comprised of research into x-ray lasers, “nuclear particle beams,” and the hypervelocity railgun.

As other countries have operations that could also be modified to becoming more like Space Force, they include China-People’s Liberation Army Strategic Support Force, Russia-Russian Aerospace Forces, India-Integrated Space Cell, European Space Agency-A coalition of 22 member states but not under a militarized structure. France- French Joint Space Command.

Current aggressive operations that could be taken over by Space Force are the Air Force’s “Space Mountain” operation, formally known as the Cheyenne Mountain Complex, which has tracked a vast number of man-made objects in orbit, which the NASA official site reports over 500,000 man-made objects currently orbiting the planet.

This mission is essential for the aspects of safety and all space-based operations, including supply missions to the International Space Station (ISS), manned trips to the moon or Mars, etc.

It’s a very exciting and powerful time in the United States with our President empowering our Military’s growth with the sixth addition to our national security force, the skies the limit on this new military branch of defense.

Moving forward there is sure to be complaints and challenges by those in the Pentagon and DOD, in spite of the President’s directive of creating Space Force, regarding jurisdictional issues involving NASA, and civilian companies such as SpaceX, and other military-industrial complex corporations.

All eyes will be monitoring the activities of the foreign and domestic enemies, including the compartmentalized groups working with the brand new kid on the block or should we say, out of this world.
