Do words mean anything anymore? There are plenty of people out there who will say no. But if words don’t mean anything, how can we communicate? Others will say that everyone can have their own definition for words. But again, if we say the same thing but mean something different, how can we communicate? Recently I’ve seen more and more people intentionally misuse words. Unlike the character Vizzini in Princess Bride, it’s not that the words don’t mean what these people think. I think it is much more dastardly than that. I believe these people are using words as weapons in an attempt to intimidate people into backing down and giving them what they want. However, like any other bully, the only way to disarm them is to stand up to them. For if we let those with malicious intent take over the language, then the fight for liberty is truly lost.
