… is losing the House a blessing in disguise?
The Answer is YES!
Over the course of everything that has happened in America in recent years, both those of the Obama administration, and especially the last two years, it became obvious to me that America was coming to another crucial point in its history. A point where the America I grew up in might significantly change if there was not a considerable change in the Washington Swamp in the very years to come. And yes that swamp was created by a combination of Democrats, political-left, corrupt interlocutors on the Hill, K-Street, the Republican Establishment, and other bottom dwellers of the Washington cesspool. I believe we got a critical part of that change in the mid-term elections that ended this past week.
Notably, with the Democrats soon to be in charge of the House, with a very slim majority, they cannot continue to totally resist everything the President wants to do. Now finally, the spotlight will be focused on them and their obstructionist ways. With some of the most extreme Democrats becoming the chairpersons of the House committees their irrational, ridiculous, adversarial and hateful antics, and even their anti-American and anti-Constitutional behavior will be completely transparent and visible to everyone who chooses to look at what is really happening in America. In fact, it will be quite difficult for that matter for the press and media to avoid and spin.
Also note, that in addition to the Democrats having a slim majority in the House, the Republicans will have a stronger majority in the Senate, and further, a lot of the Establishment RINO Republicans will be OUT of the Washington Cesspool on December 31st! The RINOs are being replaced by people who appear to be Conservative Republicans! With a strong Conservative Republican majority in the Senate, the Democrats will be forced to be more reasonable in what they do, or do not do. And let me be the first to emphatically say, neither President Trump, nor Judge Kavanaugh will be impeached.
As I’ve said before and I continue to make the point, President Trump was truly masterful in the way he worked to make the elections be more favorable for what he wants for America. He was even more amazing than usual during the last few weeks of the Mid-term election campaign. On many days he did multiple campaign rallies, but never appeared to be tired! Like during his own campaign of 2016, he made every minute count as he worked to reduce the Democrats takeover of the House and increase the Republican majority in the Senate. He clearly knew exactly what he wanted to accomplish and did it!
After working tirelessly and brilliantly during the last few weeks of the Mid-term election campaign, President Trump ramped up his efforts to “Make America Great Again” on Tuesday’s Election Day. As the results began to trickle in the President began to make calls to ranking Democrats to talk about working with them to pass bipartisan bills. And then he ramped up his efforts to “Make America Great Again” early Wednesday morning! The first thing he did was to have his Chief of Staff call Attorney General Sessions and ask for his immediate resignation. Based on everything I have seen, heard and even said about Jeff Sessions, he is a good man. He served the purposed to which I believe Trump intended, despite public criticism of him by the President, I believe was by design to allow him to do what was necessary behind the scenes with in the Department of Justice. Much of which is critical to fixing the corruption within the Attorney General’s office he inherited from Obama. As soon as he had Sessions’ resignation letter in his hand President Trump appointed an “Acting AG” Matthew Whitaker, who will do what is necessary and needs to be done in the DOJ and do it decisively! Standby for that! This transition was done in a way that is perfectly legal and cannot be legitimately questioned by anyone.
While the Sessions transition was being organized President Trump stepped up to the podium and conducted the most fascinating White House press conference, perhaps ever seen. He was completely in control, he knew exactly what he was doing and accomplished exactly what he wanted and needed to accomplish. If you have not seen or heard about this press conference, I am sure there is video available somewhere. I strongly suggest you look it up and watch it. As a result of one of the more memorable scenes in the press conference, once brought to you by Fake News network CNN, we were formally notified that CNN’s Jim Acosta’s White House press pass had been canceled.
In addition to everything else that President Trump did on Wednesday, in response to a question during the press conference, he confirmed that he is beginning his campaign to be reelected in 2020 and Vice President Pence will be his running mate.
So where are we? Based on what I have seen and heard during the last few days, remember first, elections carry significant ramifications. Republicans extended their control of the Senate, paving the way for a divided Congress. That’s a given.
At the same time, with a majority in the House, Democrats are expected to launch a flurry of investigations into President Trump and his administration. But the White House’s legal team is already braced for potential inquiries that include whether Trump obstructed justice in the Russia investigation, the misuse of taxpayer dollars by several cabinet officials, and other pipe-dream type claims of scandals by Democrats against Trump.
Regarding the concern that whether Trump could get impeached now the Democrats have won the House?
It is now possible for the process to be initiated, but there are caveats. With Democrat control of the House, we can expect to see more calls to launch investigations into the so-called Trump’s scandals and controversies. This is simply because the Democrats — being the majority party—will have more money, staff, and control over the chamber’s committees.
But when it comes to actually filing impeachment proceedings, it will take some time and political persuasion. First of all, the House will need a majority vote to impeach Trump. But even if that ends up happening with a Democrat majority, the Senate will also need a two-thirds majority to effectively rule his impeachment — and the Republicans have strengthened their control of the Senate.
Furthermore, Democrats face some fairly hefty obstacles in getting enough votes together to impeach President Trump.
Already President Trump said in a tweet, “If the Democrats think they are going to waste Taxpayer Money investigating us at the House level, then we will likewise be forced to consider investigating them for all of the leaks of Classified Information, and much else, at the Senate level,” further tweeting, “Two can play that game!”
The increased Republican majority in the Senate, however, will make it easier for President Trump to continue to appoint judges and remake the nation’s judiciary branch in a more Conservative mold.
Outside of Washington, Trump has a lock on the base. Republicans easily held the Senate on Tuesday and looked poised to triumph in several key governors’ races as many of those contests played out across states Trump won in 2016, a reminder of Trump’s enormous strength with Conservative voters across red America. “Tremendous success tonight,” he tweeted Tuesday night even as the House slipped away from Republicans. “Thank you to all!”
The Senate results cement Trump’s icon status with Conservative base voters, underscoring just how challenging—and at this point, likely futile—it would be for a Republican to mount a 2020 primary challenge to him.
President Trump thinks only in terms of winning and losing. On Tuesday, he won and he lost, which might muddle his pride. But any pain Trump feels at losing the House of Representatives will be as nothing to the satisfaction he will feel at having gained seats in the Senate.
While Republicans have lost 26 House seats, and several governorships. The 2018 midterm elections were not the Democrat ‘blue wave’ that prognosticators spent all last year anticipating. It was not a ‘shellacking’ — the word Barack Obama famously used in 2010 when his party lost 63 seats in the House and six Senate seats.
In turn, America has not rejected Trumpism. To the contrary, the midterms have only proved how durable Trump’s working-class and rural coalition is. The Trump takeover of Republicanism is nearing completion: moderate, suburban Republicans are out, as are the Never Trumpers. Republicans who can get on with the President are in. The Republican Party in the House of Representatives may now be the minority, but it is the Trump Party now. And it can win, too!
Last week, before the election he pondered the possibility of losing the House, Trump said: ‘I’ll just figure it out.’ I’m convinced all along – he has.
