During the lead-up to the 2022 elections, there were plenty of warnings about threats to our democracy. While I have repeatedly pointed out that America is a republic, not a democracy, this rhetoric reminded me of Tony Fauci’s line, “I represent science.” So what was really at risk in the last election, democracy, republicanism, or was it something else?
Today, I want to look at some actual threats to our republic and the liberty it was designed to protect. Some of you may have thought of it, and some may not. But to win the war for America’s future, we must know our opponents and their strategy.
To quote Sun Tzu:
“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained, you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
