Our American population continues to shrink. Americans, like Europeans, have backed off their responsibility to replace themselves with babies. In 2020, Americans had 300,000 fewer babies than the year before, and this declining trend has been going on for a decade.
The Progressive Left continues to tell us young people are hesitant to bring children into the world today because of climate change. But, of course, this is the same excuse the Biden administration uses to shut down our oil and natural gas use. The consequence of shutting down our fossil fuel industry has led to historic inflation and mounting economic hardship for Americans of childbearing age.
If a nation is going to maintain its population, then on average, women must have 2.1 children each during their fertile, childbearing years. Unfortunately, today America’s fertility rate is 1.6, meaning our American population is shrinking.
To add to this tale of a disappearing America, our rate of abortion is on the incline. Pro-Abortionists and ProChoice activists routinely tell us that abortions in America are on the decline. But this isn’t the case. The Guttmacher Institute (a ProChoice data collecting organization) reports 930,160 abortions performed in the U.S. in 2020 — an 8% jump from 862,320 in 2017. And now that women self-administer 54% of abortions at home by prescribed medicines, the actual count of abortions is likely much higher. Why? Because it’s challenging to keep track of these private abortions. Moreover, we know that abortions increase during times of national economic peril.
The Biden administration’s total support for unfettered, on-demand for abortion at any time throughout a woman’s pregnancy and for any reason or no reason at all will keep abortions high in America as the determinant of maintaining our population.
The Biden solution appears to be an open border, allowing millions of illegal aliens to migrate into America, bypassing our legal immigration system. This inflow of migrants is how the Progressive Left is supporting abortion and population decline. They are illegally using immigration to replace the babies Americans aren’t having.
But there’s a terrible downside to this self-destructive policy. America is draining the youth from developing nations that can ill-afford losing their most productive people to a country north of their borders.
