While it still remains to be seen how the Russian invasion of Ukraine will turn out, one thing is for certain. Vladimir Putin did not anticipate the amount of resistance his military would face from the Ukrainian people. With all of Russia’s military might, Putin would have done well to pay attention to the old adage, “it’s not the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the dog.”

The Ukrainian resistance to Vladimir Putin’s efforts to make Ukraine the first conquest in his goal of rebuilding the former ‘glory days’ of the Soviet Union has been truly inspiring. Ukrainian President Zelensky has displayed true leadership and courage, and he has been an inspiration to the people of Ukraine and the free world by deciding to stand and fight alongside and lead his countrymen, rather than flee his country as so many despots have done in the past.

The Ukrainian military and civilian population, in the face of overwhelming odds, are holding their own and beating back the Russian onslaught in many areas. Russia is paying a high price for this aggression.

So what are the lessons for America’s political class and their allies in the news media?

Lesson Number One is that they better start listening to the people. I’m not talking about the radical fringe elements, which are not representative of the majority of real Americans. But of the tens of millions of Americans who are fed up and have had enough of the Washington, D.C. madness.

Contrary to how it’s been portrayed in the news media and the career politicians, January 6th was not an insurrection as Nancy Pelosi, and others of the Washington elite continuously try to describe it as. Those who demonstrated around the Capitol, and even those who entered, had no intention of overthrowing the government and taking control. It was nothing more than a group of frustrated and a few misguided people that were crying out, “LISTEN TO US”!

The career politicians in Washington like Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Diane Feinstein, and many others have fattened their own bank accounts, and that of their families through sweetheart deals for decades. While tossing a few leftover scraps – though mostly platitudes – to the rest of us.

They continuously insult our intelligence with ridiculous comments and public statements. A case in point was Nancy Pelosi’s recent claims of Joe Biden’s “brilliance” in handling the Ukraine situation. Most Americans understand that Joe Biden is simply a figurehead; he’s not in charge of anything and clearly hasn’t a clue what is being done in his name. A slip of paper is slid in front of him, and he’s told to sign it. He does what he’s told and then takes a nap.

Considering that Biden’s administration is made up of many of the same people from the Obama years, it’s reasonable to consider that based on Obama’s own comments during an interview, “that he wished he could have a front man that he could control as he quietly behind the scenes ran the country” (I paraphrase), that our nation is being governed out of Martha’s Vineyard and Hawaii, instead of out of the White House. And we all know how successful (cough, cough, something got stuck in my throat), that the Obama years were.

Indeed, I think it would be wise for our country’s career politicians to take a lesson from Ukrainian President Zelensky. He is displaying authentic leadership in the world. Our political class and news media better start fighting for real Americans, instead of just fighting for special interest groups. Or they may one day find themselves in the middle of a ‘real insurrection’ when Americans who have had enough rise up and hold them all accountable for ignoring us, and for feathering their own nests at the expense of the American people.
