House lawmakers late Friday passed a $1.2 trillion measure to improve the country’s roads, bridges, pipes, ports, with barrels of pork included. The Washington Post says: “They delivered President Biden a major legislative win.” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi couldn’t have gotten it passed without the vote of thirteen Republicans. The vote was 228-206, with six Democrats, all progressives, voting against it. “I can’t believe Republicans just gave the Democrats their socialism bill,” Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-FL. Is this the right time to add this historic spending to our national debt? And yes, it will add to the debt; it is not zero, as has been suggested by Biden and Democrats.

Since we’re now talking in trillions, let’s clarify what a trillion represents. How tall is a trillion in $100 bills? The Endowment for Human Development says, “The height of a stack of 1,000,000 one-dollar bills measures 4,300 inches or 358 feet – about the height of a 30 to 35 story building. The height of a stack of 1,000,000,000,000 (one trillion) one dollar bills measures 67,866 miles. This would reach more than one-fourth the way from the earth to the moon.”

About that free money and the impact on real Americans’ wallets, Senator Ron Johnson explains: “You’re going to pay for it with higher inflation rates, with lower economic growth, reduced opportunities, and higher taxes. There’s no way you can pay for this without taxing everybody.”

Five lessons to take away from Election 2021, explains Brookings Institute:
1 – All politics is no longer local
2 – The culture wars are alive and well
3 – Donald Trump is still a player, but how much of a player depends on where
4 – Crime is a big issue, and ‘Defund the Police’ is a loser
5 – Socialism is not appealing to the American voter

And so the battle lines are drawn heading into crucial midterm elections that will decide more than just who sits on the left and right sides of the Capitol – it will determine the fate of our nation for the coming years. We’ve always found that Senator Johnson delivers the Out Loud Truth in his interviews, and today is no exception. He will discuss the impact of the spending and debt buildup in Washington DC, as well as the so-called Red Wave that had Americans punching back with their vote!

Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) served as the Chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee and is now the ranking member for the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations. He serves on the Budget, Foreign Relations, and Commerce, Science, and Transportation committees.

Viewpoint This Sunday launched on November, 3rd 2017. Our commitment then was to provide an alternative to the network and cable news outlets that were offering up the same regurgitated talking points. We said it then… Viewpoint This Sunday is like a Face the Nation, Meet the Press, Fox News Sunday, except we use real news. Our commitment today hasn’t changed. Malcolm Out Loud (yours truly) has a style that is quite different than any of the aforementioned talking heads. Thanks for being part of the mission! How did Speaker Nancy Pelosi pull out a victory from the jaws of defeat, giving Biden ‘a major legislative win,’ as the Washington Post puts it? Might this be Pelosi’s swan song of political victories? Election 2021 will go down in the history books with the unexpected shakeup in Virginia politics. But it was more than that even. How will this play into the midterms? What lessons do we take from last week’s election?
