Despite all the negative campaign ads and rhetoric from the left painting Republicans as racist⏤Virginians dismissed it all and elected a black woman, Winsome Sears, as Lt. Governor, and Jason Miyares, a Hispanic man, as attorney general. The icing on the cake was Glenn Youngkin besting Terry McAuliffe and winning the governorship. All of the winners were Republicans in a red-turned-blue state. This without a doubt was a repudiation of the Democrats playbook on the race card.
This momentous win is the topic of conversation tonight on After Dark with Rob and Andrew. Many thought a Republican win was impossible giving the fact Democrat heavyweights like former President Obama, Stacey Abrams, Rep. James Clyburn, and even Resident Biden and his Vice President Kamala Harris all descended on Virginia to campaign for McAuliffe. Youngkin, on the other hand, visited all the counties in the state by himself with his message of jobs and education. In the end, his kitchen table message resonated with voters and they gave him a resounding win.
