The end of the year is always a time for reflection on the happenings of the past year and how we can make a better life for our family — and even a better world.
We have heard so much talk this year about how divided we are and (to paraphrase Rodney King) how we all can’t just get along. I would say at the core of everything that has happened is the culture war. What is a culture war? It is a conflict caused by differences in values and beliefs that put people at odds with one another. This sets up a battle for dominance of one set of values over the other.
Our purposefully-created divisiveness is more than the garden variety Socialist, Marxist leanings vs. Judeo-Christian values and capitalist principles. The problem was premeditated. The ruling class and its wannabes wrote the script to permanently divide us and engender distrust in one another. This year we have seen more emphasis on defining people by their race, gender, and sexual preferences rather than as individuals with different ideas and principles that can be debated and discussed.
Enough of the lumps of coal. This is Christmastime, and we do have some positive happenings in politics and medicine. Sometimes I think it’s a struggle to find good things. But there are some big positive things, but mostly, the good happens in our daily lives. That’s what we have to focus on.
Good things are hiding behind the curtain, waiting for us to yank it open. Back in the President Nixon era, the Silent Majority spoke up. Over the years, the majority drifted back into silence. Covid, with its crisis mentality, lockdowns, and masks, muted our voices and stunted our social growth. There’s now a syndrome of prolonged social distancing — people who are afraid to return to the workplace.
Doctors, first responders, airline personnel, parents, teachers, and many others don’t believe that drivel spewed out by the so-called leadership. This is why I appreciate the gift of America Out Loud.
