The recent debacle in Afghanistan sends a signal to vulture nations that the United States is a weakened and wounded nation. Time to pick her bones. We will begin to see aggressive moves by China, Russia, Iran, plus supra-national terrorist organizations like ISIS and the Taliban to challenge the United States.

What are the signs of weakness?

Our very own “Baghdad Bob Biden,” a president who claims the withdrawal from Afghanistan was a success. A success? 13 US military troops were killed in the ISIS-k terrorist bombing at the Kabul airport. Unknown numbers of Americans were left behind. Over one hundred thousand Afghan friendlies were left behind.

The US State Department hands over to the Taliban the lists of US Citizens and Afghan friendlies. We want the Taliban to let them into the Kabul Airport for evacuation. More likely, they will hold US Citizens as hostages and assassinate the Afghan friendlies.

Bargaining Biden trying to reach agreements with the Taliban, who routinely break agreements.

What are the signs of vulture nations circling?

China sent 12+ warplanes into Taiwan’s defense zone airspace. Taiwan scrambled its jets to confront the Chinese. When China shoots down one of Taiwan’s aircraft, we now have no defense treaty with Taiwan to come to their aid. We ended that in 1979. I predict that Bumbling Biden will do nothing, and China will proceed to invade Taiwan.

Much of the US military equipment left behind in Afghanistan is being transferred into Pakistan. From there, terrorist nations like Iran will probably buy it and supply it to terrorist proxy groups. These proxy groups (ISIS, HAMAS, etc.) will then attack the United States.

North Korea appears to have restarted its biggest nuclear reactor after more than two years. The United Nations nuclear watchdog agency said in a report published late last week, calling it a “deeply troubling” development. Nuclear reactors can produce fissionable material for nuclear weapons.

What are the Root Causes of USA Weakness in Foreign Policy?

A goal of not winning wars. Beginning with Korea, the United States fought to stop the enemy but not to win. We were winning in Korea. Our forces advanced into North Korea almost to the Chinese border. Then China entered the (undeclared) war with millions of soldiers, and we retreated to the 38th parallel and held there. The war is officially still on since a peace treaty was never signed.

Vietnam, a similar “fight but don’t win” policy. We never tried to invade and conquer North Vietnam. So, we lost.

In Afghanistan, a policy of fight the Taliban but don’t pursue them into their safe havens in Pakistan. Instead of fighting to win, we funded ‘gender studies’ in an Islamic nation. So, predictably, we lost again.

‘Don’t win’ rules of engagement. Don’t fire until fired upon.

Stand Up to Bullies

Here is what we know about bullies, whether in the schoolyard or internationally: when you don’t fight back, they get even more aggressive. Think of England’s Neville Chamberlain giving up Czechoslovakia to Hitler to achieve what he called “peace in our time.” What did Hitler do? Invade Poland.

When you stand up to bullies, they back down. President John F. Kennedy stood up to Soviet Russia First Secretary Nikita Khrushchev over the Cuban Missile Crisis. Kennedy told the US Navy to turn back missile-laden Russian ships heading toward Cuba. The Russian ships turned back.

I don’t believe that the United States should be the world’s policeman. I don’t believe the United States should try to force other nations to become constitutional democracies. But when we do enter a fight, we should fight to win. Anything less puts our soldiers in the position of fighting with one hand tied behind them. It is not fair to our soldiers, and it is not fair to our nation.

In the closing chapters of my prophetic novel The Rainbow Option, I portrayed the collapse of the United States under a tyrannical federal government that tried to control every aspect of people’s lives. As the United States weakened, the vulture nations moved in to devour us. In one scene, China invades Hawaii with the feeble agreement of a weak American President.

Will this President and Congress stand up for America before the vultures pick us apart? Before you answer that, there is an election coming up in 2022 and the general election in 2024. Keep your powder dry.
