Brian Benjamin, the second black man to hold the position of Lt. Governor in New York State, recently resigned after being arrested and indicted on bribery charges. Benjamin had only been in office for less than a year. His resignation comes on the heels of the arrest of Frank R. James, a 62-year-old black supremacist who was arrested and charged with a “terrorist or violent” attack against a mass transportation system in New York City.
Looking at the crimes of the men, there is no comparison, but what does make them equal is the protection the media has given them. The liberal media has tepidly covered the crimes of these men, and others like Darrell Brooks and Jewayne Price, because of their race. All of them are black, and fortunate for them, their crimes get little to no coverage.
When the crimes are covered, the men are portrayed as victims of racism. This should come as no surprise to anyone. For the past 18 months, crimes committed by blacks get less coverage than those committed by whites for the same offenses. It would seem this is done to tip the scale of justice for blacks making their crimes appear less of an offense in the media.
A democracy requires all to be treated equally under the law. This idea and belief is the benchmark of our legal system. No matter a person’s race, creed, sex, or ethnicity judgment is the same. Our country has fought long and hard for this, especially during the Civil Rights era. Regrettably, we are now seeing equal judgment has become elusive for many if your race isn’t in favor of the ruling political establishment.
