Much has been said about January 6, 2020, being an insurrection against the government and democracy of the United States. A few politicians describe the day as being worse than 9/11. Adding to the exaggeration of that day is the reporting of five Capitol Hill police officers being killed by a mob. This simply is not true. According to the FBI, four of the five officers killed committed suicide days after January 6, and another died from a stroke. As for the insurrection, not one person arrested has been charged with the crime of insurrection. So it begs the question what exactly happened on January 6, and why can’t we get a straight answer from our elected officials?
The hosts of “After Dark” believe the truth is elusive because Democrats, who are now in charge of Congress, know that Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House, was responsible for protecting the Capitol but didn’t. As a result, they have created a tapestry of lies designed to damage Republicans. Why? They are afraid of the GOP gaining power and exposing the truth about that day, among other things. But mainly, the Democrats fear former President Donald Trump running for president in 2024 and winning. Truth be told it is the Democrats who have committed offenses against the government and are destroying democracy.
A tidbit of fact about that day, which is hardly covered, Ashli Babbit, a retired American soldier, was shot dead at the Capitol. She didn’t even have a weapon.
