What makes a country a republic? Merriam-Webster defines a republic as a “government in which supreme power resides in a body of citizens entitled to vote and is exercised by elected officers and representatives responsible to them and governing according to law.” But can a republic truly be a republic if there are suspicious irregularities in its elections?
Does supreme power genuinely reside in the citizens if those suspicious irregularities extend to the acts of government? Once these irregularities are found, does not a republic require that the citizens prevent them from happening again? How can We the People restore a true republican form of government to both our states and the United States?
