They say what people don’t know won’t hurt them. But it has been my experience that what you know that isn’t so is what really gets you in trouble. When I first read the Constitution, there were two things that stood out to me, how much I had not been taught in school and how much of what I had been taught was absolutely wrong. I even teach a class entitled “Three Myths About the Constitution: Three things we’ve all been taught about the Constitution and the government it created that are factually wrong.
Today, I want to take a look at some things we are being told we must do that are based on some things that just aren’t so. As they say, the first step in dealing with a problem is admitting you have one in the first place.
