Quiet as it’s kept, another black man Republican Tim Scott has decided to run for the presidency of the United States. You would be hard-pressed to know this because the mainstream media isn’t saying much about it.

This is odd because in 2008 then-Senator Barack Obama declared his run for the presidency, and the mainstream media couldn’t contain themselves. They were rather jubilant. One reporter said that Obama gave him a “thrill up my leg.” You can’t make this stuff up.

Obama was just a junior senator from Chicago with a law degree from Yale. He was also a community organizer. During his time in the US Senate, he had neither authored nor co-authored any bills.

There was nothing impressive about Obama other than the color of his skin and lineage (his father was black and his mother white). Maybe that’s why the media and many on the left were enamored over him.

Then Senator Joe Biden once described Obama as being “very articulate and good-looking.” Even the former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Obama was a “light-skinned” African-American “with no Negro dialect unless he wanted to have one.”

Yes, you read those comments correctly, and they are somewhat heavy on the racist tropes as defined by Democrats. Yet, no one came out at the time to cry about racism.

Fast forward to today and Senator Scott’s presidential announcement. It was powerful and moving as he described his humble background that led him to this moment in time.

Scott, whose full name is Timothy Eugene Scott, was born in poverty in South Carolina. Raised by a single mother, along with his brother, Scott worked hard and managed to pull himself up by his bootstraps.

He is the first black senator to serve in the United States Senate in the South since 1881. He got there not because of his skin color but because of his faith and strong work ethic.

While in the Senate, he wrote and co-authored many bills, including the welfare reform bill and the criminal reform act. Now that is a story worth speaking about it.

Unlike Obama, Scott has a record of running on. But for some reason, with all that, neither Democrats nor the media will recognize him. When they do, it’s to attack him for being a Republican and having had the ability to pull himself up and be an accomplished man.

Who is Tim Scott? He is an American running for the highest office in the nation, the President of the United States. He is a patriot willing to give back to a country that gave him so much.
