It’s an interesting question and an excellent place to start the conversation. Why did people vote against their own best interests ⏤ if, in fact, they did?

‘Red Wave, Red Wave’ could be heard in stereo throughout the 2022 midterm election.

Similar to the popular television series Fantasy Island, which ran from 1977 to 1984. Hervé Villechaize, who played the character Tattoo, would announce to viewers at the beginning of the program, ‘De plane! De plane!,’ or ‘The plane! The plane!.’ It became a catchphrase that defined the fantasies that captured the imaginations of a generation.

The Republican Party hoped that the ‘Red Wave, Red Wave, catchphrase would capture the imagination of voters to deliver a tsunami of election returns.

“There was never going to be a Red Wave,” Mark Levin says. As Levin points out, the math simply was never there. There were 34 seats up in 2022; the Republicans had to defend 20, and the Democrats 14. It was a “Tall hill to climb,” Levin says. “The math in 2022 never really led to a red wave possibility.”

2024 is another story entirely. There will be 33 seats up, but this time around, the wave is stacked against the Democrats. They will have to defend 23 of those seats; the Republicans will need to defend just 10.

And then there is the case of Mitch McConnell and the Senate Leadership Fund, supporting RINO candidates, and pulling support for America First candidates.

The message is to brace yourself for two more years of Biden policies, energy, schools, border, the economy, inflation, cultural disasters, and all the rest. It’s not going to get better in this country; it’s going to get worse, is the takeaway.

“On the dark side, there simply aren’t enough American loving patriots to win elections,” Ben Domenech explains. And further, Republicans must have an Early Vote Strategy. The Democrats are voting for 50 days, and the Republicans vote for 1 day. What’s wrong with that picture?

“We have a Democrat Party where all the lessons they’re going to take away from this is that we can be as radical as we want, and we will not have to bear a price for it.” Ben Domenech says.

Was it that the pollsters and pundits were wrong, or is the cultural rot so deep and so broad that people vote against their best interest. I am paraphrasing, but this is essentially what Mark Levin is questioning.

And finally, Joe Concha brings up an excellent point using crime as an example.

“Philadelphia had its highest murder rate in its history in 2021, except that record was just broken in 2022, and we’re barely into November, so you think that people would say, boy, we really need a change here and not elect a man, forget the health issues, who says, he wanted to release one-third of the prison population. Or they look at their wages, their 401k, they look at every time they get a bill on their credit card every time they go to the grocery store, or they pay their electric or heating bill, boy this is infinitely higher than we’ve ever experienced in the household – we’re choosing between eating and heating in some cases – we’re going to vote anyways just to own Conservatives because I want to elect someone like a John Fetterman in PA.”

Concha believes it’s more about rooting against the other side than pushing or pulling for just a better country in general.
