There were three news stories this week that illustrate one of the most pervasive, and effective, Democratic political strategies. One was “Law professor rips progressives’ false claim that GOP overturned Roe v. Wade.” The second was “Liz Cheney chosen as Jan 6 committee vice-chair.” The third was “FDA officials to resign over White House ‘mess’ of vaccine guidance.”

In a nutshell, the Supreme Court failed to strike down a Texas anti-abortion law on procedural grounds, while leaving the door open to later striking the law down, should someone bring a valid case against it to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court did not say that the Texas law is constitutional. It only said that the specific case brought before the court was not something the Supreme Court could legally look at.

Liz Cheney was chosen as the vice-chair of the Jan 6 committee only to make it look like the Jan 6 committee is legitimate. This is in spite of the fact that the FBI has already determined that while some people did violate the law on trespassing in the Capitol Building, there was no organized plot, and no insurrection. The House, in the meantime, under the direction of Nancy Pelosi, is going to continue investigating the insurrection, in spite of the fact that there wasn’t one.

The top two officials in the FDA are stepping down in protest, as the Biden Administration makes decisions regarding Covid-19 vaccinations that have absolutely nothing to do with science, and everything to do with politics.

Those stories were all on Fox News. Here are some headlines from CNN:

“Biden says he’ll press Congress on infrastructure after wildfires and Ida wreak havoc on the US: ‘The climate crisis is here.’”

“Analysis:  Ida turns NYC into a front line of the climate crisis.”

“John Roberts has lost control of the Supreme Court.”

“Sotomayor calls the Supreme Court vote a ‘breathtaking act of defiance’ of the Constitution.”

“White supremacist praise of the Taliban takeover concerns US officials.”

“Is this *finally* the moment we wake up to the climate crisis?”

What do all of these stories have in common? They are all examples of ‘news’ being weaponized for political purposes.

In the case of Fox News, the stories were calling left-leaning news sources out for shoddy reporting. In the case of CNN, each story pretends to be a news article, or analysis of legitimate news, but all make false assumptions that can easily be disproven, and are completely worthless unless the false assumptions they are based on, are believed to be true.

None of the wildfires raging out West have anything to do with climate change, and nor does Ida, but writing articles linking those two things to climate change is a blatant attempt to fool the American people into taking climate alarmism as gospel truth. There is an implied promise that if we stop burning fossil fuels and live in caves, suddenly there will be no more wildfires, and no hurricanes (or at least that there will be fewer, and that they will be less extreme). There is not a shred of scientific research to support that belief. The truth is that we do not have more severe weather than we had in the past.

John Roberts never had control over the Supreme Court. Each member has an equal say in every court decision, and that has always been true. Note, however, that saying ‘John Roberts has lost control of the Supreme Court’ creates an image of a court running out of control. And we are told this over a case that was thrown out for procedural reasons. This is a blatant attempt to turn the American people against a conservative-leaning court, in the hopes of getting us to push to have the court packed.

And last, but not least, the notion that America has a problem with white supremacy is a myth, and the notion that large numbers of Americans want anything to do with the Taliban, other than perhaps to kill the Taliban off, is absurd.

And yet, all of these are mainstream news stories from the current news cycle. There were more yesterday, and there will be more tomorrow – articles pretending to be news, but that is completely removed from reality. These articles are nothing more than propaganda, and are as unashamedly biased as was anything ever put out by Joseph Goebbels.

Another interesting thing I noticed in looking at the news today was that on CNN, there was absolutely nothing going on related to Afghanistan, and on Fox, there was nary a mention of Hurricane Ida. It is not just the coverage of the news that is hopelessly slanted, but also what news is covered.

Today’s left and right live in completely separate universes, with exposure to completely different sets of information – all of it biased. The current state of American ‘news’ would be funny were it not such a serious problem.

But the fact is that we are blinded by the corporate greed of media houses who, in order to avoid being cut off from access to the Chinese media market, only tell us what the Chinese Communist Party allows us to hear, and that is further censored by their own political bias.

Even where valid, legitimate news is created, such as on America Out Loud, sharing it on social media can be problematic, with outright bans, as well as ‘shadow bans’ where people can post content, but algorithms are designed to limit the spread of their posts.

It is time for the American public to realize that we have no news, and are completely blind in terms of what is actually going on in the world around us.

And it is time for us to realize that this has been true for a very long time.
